18 U.S.C. § 2257 statement

This is a short compliance statement. It explains why the federal record-keeping rules for explicit visual content do not apply to an editorial site about Janitor AI.

What § 2257 Requires

Section 2257 of Title 18 of the United States Code, together with 28 C.F.R. Part 75, sets record-keeping and labelling duties for producers of certain visual depictions of actual sexually explicit conduct. Producers covered by the law must keep records proving that every performer was at least 18 at the time of production. They must also display a notice naming the custodian of those records.

Why It Does Not Apply Here

The statute does not apply to this site, because burgashell.co.uk neither produces nor hosts depictions of sexually explicit conduct. Its content is written coverage of Janitor AI, generated illustrations of clothed adult characters, a logo and links to official and press sources. None of that falls within the statutory definition that triggers § 2257 record-keeping.

Third-Party Platforms Linked From This Site

Janitor AI and the alternatives named on the main page are independent third parties. Character AI, SpicyChat, CrushOn AI, Chub AI, Candy AI and SillyTavern each answer for their own obligations under US federal law and the law of the places they operate. Nothing on this site takes on § 2257 responsibility for material published on those platforms.

Voluntary Adult Policy

Apart from § 2257, I restrict this site to adult readers through an 18+ confirmation screen on the first visit. The gate reflects how the site is written, not a legal duty under this statute. How it works is set out on the age verification page.

Amendment History

Any substantive change to this statement updates the page's dateModified and is noted in the editorial policy log. Wording polish is not logged, but changes to scope or applicability are.
