Methodology
This page is the working record of how I research the Janitor AI coverage on this site. Every material claim on the main page traces back to one of the source types below.
Source Hierarchy
Sources on this site carry different weight, and official ones always come first. When two sources disagree, the higher one in this list wins, and the disagreement is noted on the page. From heaviest to lightest:
- Official platform pages. Janitor AI's homepage, login page and help center articles on JLLM, proxy setup, Janitor+, the Router, character creation, content rules, age verification and account deletion.
- Official store listings. The App Store and Google Play pages for "Janitor: Interactive Stories", used for app names, developers, ratings, version numbers and in-app purchase prices.
- Competitors' own pages. Pricing pages and documentation published by Character AI, SpicyChat, CrushOn AI, Chub AI, Candy AI and SillyTavern.
- Press reporting. Named outlets such as Semafor, used for dated facts like launch timing and early user numbers, and always linked.
- Community sources. r/JanitorAI_Official and the official Discord, used to show what users complain about, never as proof of a feature or price.
What Gets Checked Versus What Gets Cited
Fast-moving facts get checked against the live official page on the day of publication. That covers prices, plan perks, menu paths, store ratings and app names. Anything I cannot confirm on an official page, such as a reported $99/year Janitor+ option, is either labelled as unconfirmed or left out.
Cross-Checks for Pricing and Features
Every price on the main page has two checks: the official listing and the date it was read. Janitor+ is priced from the App Store's in-app purchase list, and the perk list comes from the help center's subscription FAQ. Competitor prices come from each platform's own pricing page, which is why the table names the plan, not just a number.
Comparison Methodology
The alternatives table compares six platforms on the same seven columns: category, best use, NSFW policy, model, starting price and the main trade-off. Each platform is described the way it presents itself on its own site, without hands-on testing claims. Where an official page gives no figure, such as a library size, the cell says so instead of guessing.
Freshness and Revision Cadence
I re-check the main page at least every 90 days. Out-of-cycle updates follow a price change, a new subscription tier, a store rating change or a new help-center rule. Each update bumps dateModified in the page schema, while datePublished stays fixed as the record of first publication.
Corrections Process
Corrections go through one channel and one routine. Send me the claim, the correction and a source on LinkedIn. A verified correction leads to an edit on the page, a line on the editorial policy log and a dateModified bump, all within seven working days.
What I Don't Do Here
Some common shortcuts are off the table on this site. Listing them makes it easier to hold me to them:
- No sponsored coverage. Neither JanitorAI, Inc. nor any competitor has paid for placement.
- No AI-written final copy. Language models may help summarise long documents, but the published text is mine.
- No edited screenshots. Images on the site are illustrations, not altered captures of the product.
- No clinical or legal advice. Rules are quoted from their source, not interpreted as advice for your situation.
Conflict-of-Interest Scan
I hold no equity in JanitorAI, Inc., in any competitor named on the site or in the affiliate networks behind outbound links. If that changes, I will log it on the editorial policy page the same day. Any affected coverage would then be re-checked before it stays live.
