What This Site Is

I started it because Janitor AI changes faster than most write-ups about it. In 2026 alone the platform added the Janitor+ subscription, a web-only Router for third-party models and k-ID age checks in three countries. Pages written a year ago miss all of that, so this one carries a date on every claim and a documented methodology behind it.

Who Edits the Site

I edit it myself: I'm Melissa Blake, and I've covered AI companion apps since 2022. Every page goes through me before it goes live, and I answer for every claim on it. My wider beat includes Character AI, SpicyChat, Chai and Replika, which is why comparisons here look at the whole category rather than one app.

Editorial Position

My position on Janitor AI is direct, with credit and criticism in the same place. It does some things well, such as an open character library, a free built-in model and a flexible proxy setup. It does other things poorly, such as short memory on the free tier and changes that land with little notice, and I name both. When a claim rests on an official page, I say which one, and when it rests on user reports, I label it that way.
